Episode 48: Making Connections to Craft a Career

In today’s episode, you’ll hear conversations with “Cowgirl Comedian” Chelsea Edsall and quintessential freelancer Lizzie Iwersen. Both these amazing women are carving their own career paths out of opportunities that present themselves through friendships and connections they have made in the horse world. In our first segment, Kate and Abigail chat about our new freelancer retreat, and some of our favorite guest blog posts on our Freelance Remuda website. We can’t wait to hear what you think!

Segment 2: Chelsea Edsall - 07: 53

Chelsea Edsall is the face and creator of “Cheers! It’s Chelsea,” a social media presence enjoyed by many horse folks. Chelsea manages her husband NRCHA trainer Clayton Edsall’s training business. She is a reined cow horse competitor herself and is involved in that community, helping grow youth classes. We think Chelsea has become a remarkable content creator, and we’re looking forward to sharing the conversation we had with her at her house in Weatherford, Texas, with you today.

Segment 3: Lizzie Iwersen - 42:44

Lizzie Iwersen is celebrating her one-year anniversary as a freelancer in December, but this multi-talented communicator is no stranger to juggling multiple jobs. Originally from Montana, after college in Nevada, Lizzie joined RFD-TV traveling the country helping produce events and shows until the channel tossed her into a show host position. Following that, she moved into the trade show and marketing position at Western Horseman, before parlaying that into an editorial position. She continues to write today, but focuses her efforts on video, especially sale horse videos, as well as other projects that fall into her passion--roping and the Western industry. Her connections have helped her to move through the industry and follower her passion, which is what she's going to talk about with us today.
